Three botanicals. One documented formulation.
Mojeaga Herbal Remedy and Mojeaga Herbal Tea are based on three botanicals whose composition and characteristics have been investigated through scientific research.
Alchornea laxiflora
A shrub native to tropical Africa, long used in Nigerian folk medicine for inflammatory and infectious conditions. A 2022 systematic review catalogued its documented ethnopharmacology and phytochemistry across West and Central African traditional use.
Pennisetum purpureum
A vigorous perennial grass cultivated widely across Africa, traditionally used in local herbal preparations alongside its established role as a forage crop. Its leaf phytochemistry is under investigation as part of the formulation.
Sorghum bicolor
A nutrient-rich cereal with a diverse phenolic profile, including phenolic acids, flavonoids and 3-deoxyanthocyanidins studied for antioxidant activity. The leaves are used in this formulation.
Composition figures are drawn from official NAFDAC product registration. Herbal Remedy is an extract-based blend (47% / 33% / 20%); Herbal Tea uses the same three botanicals as dried leaves (1.17g / 0.83g / 0.5g per 2.5g teabag).
Rooted in nature. Investigated through science.
The Mojeaga product journey is rooted in a long tradition of Nigerian ethnomedicine, where knowledge of medicinal plants has passed from one generation to the next.
The formulations behind Mojeaga Herbal Remedy and Mojeaga Herbal Tea were developed by Mojeaga International Ventures Limited, with their botanical composition subsequently investigated through phytochemical analysis, nutritional profiling, toxicological research and human clinical research.
The formulation's origins
The Mojeaga formulation was developed from botanicals associated with Nigerian herbal tradition.
The product formulation
Three botanicals combined in the formulation developed by Mojeaga International Ventures Limited.
Laboratory research
The Mojeaga formulation has been investigated for phytochemical constituents using GC–MS.
Preclinical research
Antioxidant activity and toxicological parameters of the Mojeaga formulation were investigated in an animal model.
Human clinical research
A Phase II randomized pilot trial investigated the Mojeaga formulation alongside conventional oral iron therapy.
Continuing research
Larger, longer studies are how the research keeps going.
The formulation, scientifically investigated.
Researchers have investigated the Mojeaga formulation using Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS), nutritional analysis and other research methods.
The Mojeaga formulation has been studied in humans.
A Phase II randomized pilot clinical trial evaluated the formulation as an adjunct to conventional oral iron therapy in an obstetric population with anemia, conducted across Nigerian tertiary healthcare institutions.
Participants were randomized to receive either Mojeaga alongside conventional oral iron therapy, or conventional oral iron therapy alone, for two weeks.
Key finding
At two weeks, the Mojeaga group showed a greater rise in hematocrit than the standard-of-care group — a median rise of 10.00 percentage points versus 6.00, a statistically significant between-group difference.
Illustrative summary of published trial results. Individual outcomes vary — see the full study for methodology and limitations.
Scientific Honesty Matters
What the available research shows — and what it doesn't. Here's a plain-language account of what the published clinical trial actually demonstrated, and what it does not.
What the published clinical trial showed
- A statistically significant rise in hematocrit versus standard-of-care alone
- Use as an adjunct alongside conventional oral iron therapy
- No treatment-related serious adverse events reported over 2 weeks
- Results specific to an obstetric population with anemia
What the published evidence does not establish
- That Mojeaga cures or replaces treatment for anemia
- Long-term safety or efficacy beyond the 2-week study window
- Effectiveness for causes of anemia outside the population studied
- A substitute for medical diagnosis or professional care
What the available safety research tells us
A research finding under particular experimental conditions should never be read as a guarantee that every individual will experience the same outcome.
Clinical safety
In the published pilot study, no treatment-related serious adverse events, congenital anomalies or deaths were reported in the Mojeaga group.
Preclinical toxicology
Acute and chronic toxicity studies reported no marked toxicological effects across the biochemical parameters investigated.
Short-term evidence
The published clinical study followed participants for two weeks — that gives us limited information about longer-term use, which is why research continues.
Individual medical advice
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, managing a chronic condition or experiencing unexplained symptoms, please consult a qualified healthcare professional before use.
